Part-time Faculty Criminal Justice Instructor

Overview

Montgomery College, operating across the Rockville, East County, Germantown, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring campuses and online, is accepting applications for adjunct/part‑time faculty to teach criminal justice courses on a continuous basis. The hiring decision is based on academic judgment and enrollment needs, and part‑time faculty may teach up to 11.5 equivalent semester hours (ESH) per semester during the academic year (23 ESH per year) and up to 10 ESH for both summer sessions combined.

• Teach assigned criminal justice courses.
• Deliver a varied schedule of day, night, weekend, online, and accelerated sections.
• Teach on the Germantown, Rockville, East County, or Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus, or online, as required.
• Prioritize teaching daytime courses on Rockville, East County, and off‑campus high‑school classes.
• Apply culturally relevant and empathetic pedagogies to enhance the learning experience.
• Integrate educational enterprise platforms such as Blackboard, including zero‑cost resources, into instruction.

• Master’s degree in criminal justice or a related field (law or police science).
• Experience teaching at the postsecondary level.
• Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
• Ability to teach in a multicultural setting.
• Demonstrated commitment to belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in both educational and work environments.
• Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the Internet outside of the work location. If unavailable, notify the department chair; temporary access may be provided subject to available funds.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without a sponsor.
• For foreign degrees, supply an education equivalency evaluation from a nationally recognized service.
• Residence in Maryland or a state with payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
• Successful completion of a background check and, if applicable, degree verification at the time of hire.
