Under the direction of the school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. Creates an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development to ensure the success of every student. Supervises students in a variety of school‑related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, and maintains records and follows required procedures. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community.

Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA contract.

• Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, and MCPS policies
• Understanding of the teaching and learning process
• Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
• Ability to infuse technology into curriculum
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school‑based staff, students, parents, and community
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills

• Education and training consistent with the role of a general music teacher
• Certificate or license meeting Maryland state certification requirements in an appropriate field of education
