Job Description

The stipend for the after-school supervision & academic monitor is intended for teacher-level staff. If there are no qualified MCPS teacher-level staff available for this position, schools may hire non-unit members in accordance with the guidelines contained in the most updated ECA Handbook Coaching Eligibility and Restrictions.

Please note:

These responsibilities and stipend will be split with another staff member.

The after-school supervision and academic monitor is expected to host a space for all students who remain at school prior to or following an extracurricular or athletic activity. The monitor provides a safe and welcoming environment for students and offers non-instructional support to students engaged in academic, independent work. The monitor works under the direction of the principal, school administration, and the extracurricular activities director.

Responsibilities
  • Host and supervise a space for all students who remain after school who are not under the direct supervision of a coach or sponsor.
  • Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Monitor student attendance, behavior, and movement.
  • Ensure students’ safety and security and adherence to school rules and regulations.
  • Monitor and offer non-instructional support to students engaged in independent, academic work. Communicate high expectations for behavior, respect and academic achievement.
  • Demonstrate an active interest in the students’ experience and well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with the school athletic director, extracurricular activities director, security team, and school administration.
