IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Germantown, MD
, to join a highly specialized MEP team with deep expertise in complex healthcare, research, laboratory, federal, and secure facility work. This is an opportunity to do work that matters — supporting mission‑critical environments tied to national security, scientific discovery, healthcare, and public service.
- Lead the analysis and design of electrical systems, including detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
- Perform site assessments and prepare detailed analysis and technical reports
- Collaborate with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information clearly
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication and responsive service
- Provide in‑process reviews of electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence
- Apply IMEG quality control processes to help ensure designs meet IMEG standards, industry standards, and client requirements
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff
- Provide technical assistance in resolving field issues with limited support from senior staff
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and electrical engineering best practices, and contribute to research and innovation efforts within IMEG
- Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and help identify and mitigate potential risks associated with electrical systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that support project goals
- Participate in project interviews and presentations
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Due to the nature of this work, applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain the required U.S. government security clearance
- Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, Tech Street, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
- Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS;
Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu - Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
- Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
- Strong training and mentoring skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
