Job Summary

Join the cutting-edge team at DRS RADA Technologies in Germantown, MD! We are hiring a full-time, on-site Facilities Manager. We're looking for a hands-on, experienced manager in the aerospace or defense industry.

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Facilities Manager will support and strengthen the evolving needs of the business unit.

As a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, DRS RADA Technologies delivers proprietary radar solutions and supports legacy avionics systems for defense customers around the world. The company is a recognized pioneer in AESA tactical radar technology, supporting missions such as active military protection, counter-drone operations, critical infrastructure security, and border surveillance.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage an Aerospace and Defense facility of a production, maintenance and repair of company building(s), equipment, machinery and grounds
  • Plan, schedule, and direct staff of in-house employees and external contractors in the maintenance of company buildings, equipment, and machinery
  • Develop and maintain an operating budget to ensure that such maintenance is carried out on a cost-effective basis
  • Ensure facilities remain operational 24x7
  • Responsible to manage the regular maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and other equipment such as security and safetry related
  • Develop and execute comprehensive annual inspection process for equipment, machinery and facilities
  • May direct building renovation and ensures renovations occur within budgeted levels and conform to company specifications. May obtain and prepare cost estimates; coordinate all construction, remodeling, and repair projects; and inspect completed work
  • Coordinate/manage insurance and service contract requirements and associated vendors
  • Assure that space-management and project-tracking documentation is accurate and up-to-date to facilitate incorporation of new requirements and projects
  • Resolve and investigate all facility security related issues; develop incident report system
  • Develop, document and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with facility security efforts IAW corporate standards and other regulations
  • Keep upper management apprised of any developments or problems that may interfere with production/processes or cause property loss
  • Collaborate with other corporate departments on problems concerning facilities
  • Mentor staff by motivating and providing direction to help them achieve their goals and make a consistent effort to go above and beyond
  • Establish, implement, and monitor methods and measures to ensure quality and low cost
  • Develop and manage applicable Emergency Contingency Planning
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Assist management with special projects and assignments as requested
  • Support business plans, acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in engineering or related field
  • A minimum of 5+ years of A&D facilities experience including production, active warehouse, and offices
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Experience in CAPEX equipment management: budget, tracking and execution
  • Working knowledge of processing equipment and related support equipment
  • Working knowledge of electrical power systems as well as HVAC systems and controls
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience working with subcontractors
  • Experience navigating landlord relations (and lease contract), municipal regulations, and fire department compliance
  • Proven “hands-on” leadership and people skills
  • Detail oriented, time and cost conscious
  • Demonstrated skills in facility engineering
