Real-Time Documentation: Accompany the physician into exam rooms to accurately record patient encounters, including chief complaints, detailed histories, musculoskeletal physical exam findings, and diagnostic results (X-rays, MRI, CT).

Clinical Accuracy: Translate the provider-patient interaction into professional, accurate clinical notes, ensuring appropriate orthopedic terminology is used.

Order Entry & Workflow: Assist with placing orders (labs, radiology, referrals) and, under the direct supervision of the provider, assist with electronic prescription entry.

Orthopedic Specialization

Document specialized procedures such as joint injections, cast applications/removals, splinting, and suture removal.

Chart Management: Prepare, review, and organize patient medical records for the provider, ensuring all past medical history, old records, and imaging reports are available.

Compliance & Confidentiality: Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and Tennessee-specific state regulations regarding patient confidentiality and medical record documentation.

Communication: Act as a liaison between the physician and other clinical staff to improve patient flow, facilitate patient education, and assist with follow-up calls.

Prepare the operating room, instruments, and equipment for sterile procedures.

Maintain the sterile field throughout the operation and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.

Document intraoperative details, implant data, and post-operative notes in the EHR.

Required Qualifications

Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Tennessee.

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate or Bachelor’s degree).

Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience required; experience in orthopedics, emergency medicine, or urgent care strongly preferred.

Medical Knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, musculoskeletal disorders, and medical terminology.

Technical

Skills:

Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Athena, Cerner) and accurate typing speed of at least 55-60 WPM.
