Location:

Germantown, MD, US, 20876

DRS RADA Technologies, a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, is focused on proprietary radar solutions and legacy avionics systems supporting the defense industry globally. The company is a global pioneer of AESA tactical radars for active military protection, counter-drone applications, critical infrastructure protection, and border surveillance.

Job Summary DRS RADA Technologies is hiring an Associate Jira Administrator to join the RADA Team on-site in Germantown, MD. This is a hands-on technical role that sits at the intersection of business process and platform engineering. The right candidate will translate requirements from diverse stakeholders into robust Jira configurations, custom workflows, and data integrations — while also serving as a collaborative partner on ongoing implementation projects.

Jira is the operational backbone of our organization — spanning the full business lifecycle from initial customer quoting, through production and manufacturing, all the way to product returns and warranty management. It is equally central to our Program Management and Engineering teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain our Jira Data Center environment, including user management, permission schemes, notification schemes, and project configurations.
  • Support and evolve our Jira-based MES, working directly with production floor users, process engineers, and operations leaders to understand manufacturing workflows and translate them into Jira solutions.
  • Serve as first-line support for Jira user questions, access requests, and troubleshooting, escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Maintain existing workflows, including Conditions, Validators, and Post Functions, and assist senior team members in designing new workflows that reflect real-world manufacturing processes such as work order routing, quality holds, and production tracking.
  • Learn and develop skills in Script Runner (Groovy) to support advanced workflow automation, custom fields, and business logic, with mentorship and guidance.
  • Spend time on the production floor to observe how the system is used in practice, identify pain points, and bring back actionable improvement ideas.
  • Participate in requirements-gathering sessions with process owners across Engineering, Production, Quality, and Product Management, capturing needs for senior administrators to design against.
  • Contribute to concurrent Jira implementation projects, taking ownership of defined tasks within larger work streams while coordinating with other contributors.
  • Maintain technical documentation for workflows, scripts, and configurations to support knowledge transfer and system continuity.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience as a Jira Administrator, with knowledge of workflow design including Conditions, Validators, and Post Functions.
  • Knowledge with Jira Script Runner (Groovy-based scripting) for workflow automation, custom listeners, and advanced post functions.
  • Experience with SQL — including writing queries to retrieve and manipulate data — and integrating database-driven content into Jira workflows and field configurations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret varied and sometimes ambiguous stakeholder requests into clear, implementable technical solutions.
  • Solid understanding of Jira permission schemes, notification schemes, screens, and field configurations in a Data Center environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage technical implementations from requirement gathering through deployment.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, engineering, or operations environments where Jira spans cross-functional business processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with or exposure to Jira Cloud, or familiarity with Data Center-to-Cloud migration considerations.
  • Experience designing and building Jira dashboards and filters, including selecting appropriate visualization types based on user needs and data types.
  • Familiarity with the broader Atlassian ecosystem, including Confluence and Bitbucket (direct work with these tools is not required, but knowledge is a plus).
  • Groovy or general programming…
