Associate Jira Administrator
DRS RADA Technologies is hiring an Associate Jira Administrator to join the RADA Team on-site in Germantown, MD. This is a hands-on technical role that sits at the intersection of business process and platform engineering. The right candidate will translate requirements from diverse stakeholders into robust Jira configurations, custom workflows, and data integrations — while also serving as a collaborative partner on ongoing implementation projects.
Jira is the operational backbone of our organization — spanning the full business lifecycle from initial customer quoting, through production and manufacturing, all the way to product returns and warranty management. It is equally central to our Program Management and Engineering teams. As Jira adoption has grown across every major department, so too has the complexity of our workflows, integrations, and customizations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain our Jira Data Center environment, including user management, permission schemes, notification schemes, and project configurations.
- Support and evolve our Jira-based MES, working directly with production floor users, process engineers, and operations leaders to understand manufacturing workflows and translate them into Jira solutions.
- Serve as first-line support for Jira user questions, access requests, and troubleshooting, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Maintain existing workflows, including Conditions, Validators, and Post Functions, and assist senior team members in designing new workflows that reflect real-world manufacturing processes such as work order routing, quality holds, and production tracking.
- Learn and develop skills in Script Runner (Groovy) to support advanced workflow automation, custom fields, and business logic, with mentorship and guidance.
- Spend time on the production floor to observe how the system is used in practice, identify pain points, and bring back actionable improvement ideas.
- Participate in requirements-gathering sessions with process owners across Engineering, Production, Quality, and Product Management, capturing needs for senior administrators to design against.
- Contribute to concurrent Jira implementation projects, taking ownership of defined tasks within larger work streams while coordinating with other contributors.
- Maintain technical documentation for workflows, scripts, and configurations to support knowledge transfer and system continuity.
