Description
Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Field Support Specialist to provide hands‑on support for Oracle hardware environments running Solaris and Linux operating systems. This role involves on‑site technical support, troubleshooting, and customer interaction to ensure reliable system performance in mission‑critical environments. The ideal candidate is proactive, customer‑focused, and experienced in maintaining and supporting Oracle and legacy Sun Microsystems systems.
Key Responsibilities- Provide hands‑on support for Oracle hardware environments, including ZFS storage, Exadata, Oracle Database Appliances, and legacy Sun Microsystems systems
- Deliver on‑site service desk support and manage local ticketing queues for hardware and software requests
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues, including drive replacement, latency issues, power failures, and connectivity problems
- Travel to customer sites to perform break/fix activities and implement hardware solutions
- Provide excellent customer service via email, phone, and messaging platforms
- Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout issue resolution and service delivery
- Coordinate with data center staff at local and remote locations to facilitate access and support activities
- Manage work orders and access requests for on‑site and remote support tasks
- Maintain on‑site spare parts inventory for efficient hardware replacement
- Track and meet service delivery timelines in accordance with contract SLAs
- Escalate customer issues to leadership as needed
- Conduct routine check‑ins with customers to identify and address emerging issues
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with government security policies
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience supporting Oracle and Sun Microsystems hardware, firmware, and software systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Solaris and Linux operating systems in Oracle hardware environments
- Experience performing system patching, updates, and maintenance for Oracle/Sun platforms
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with ability to work independently in on‑site environments
