Description

The Nurse in Charge (NIC) is a designated clinical leader for a patient care area who works under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Department Director to plan and coordinate care at the service/department level.

Holy Cross Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Supervisor - Joint & Spine to provide frontline clinical leadership for our Joint & Spine unit at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital. This is an outstanding opportunity for a skilled Registered Nurse who is passionate about patient-centered care, team development, operational excellence, and high-quality outcomes.

As the Nurse Supervisor, you will work collaboratively with the Department Director to coordinate patient care delivery, oversee daily operations, support staff performance, and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards. You will serve as a clinical resource and role model while helping to create an environment of excellence for patients, families, and colleagues.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate and oversee patient care operations for the Joint & Spine unit
  • Direct and supervise professional and non-professional clinical staff
  • Manage staffing assignments, scheduling, and workflow optimization
  • Promote safe, effective, and efficient utilization of resources
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
  • Assist with onboarding, orientation, education, and professional development of staff
  • Serve as a clinical expert, mentor, and resource for the care team
  • Foster a culture of service excellence, collaboration, and accountability
Required

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of three (3) years of orthopedic, spine, surgical, acute care, or related specialty nursing experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Previous charge nurse, supervisor, or nursing leadership experience
  • Experience in Joint Replacement, Orthopedics, Spine, Surgical, or Medical-Surgical Services

Compensation

Pay Range: $439.47 - $61.20 per hour

Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity considerations. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) are paid within the equivalent base salary range.
