Schedule / Job TypeContract | 12 Weeks | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, fast-paced, non-trauma Emergency Department serving patients across all age ranges, from neonates to geriatrics
- Manage a patient assignment of up to 1:4, with a ratio of up to 1:5 in lower-acuity situations, across a 66-bed department with an average census of approximately 200 patients
- Care for patients presenting with multiple complex diagnoses in a dynamic ED environment
- Rotate and float as needed within the ED, including assignment to the 10-bed ED Hold/Observation unit (ratio 1:5, up to 1:6 with lower acuity)
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR
- Participate in required holiday shifts as scheduled; no pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
- Active RN license in Maryland or a valid Compact license at time of submission
- BLS certification – American Heart Association only
- ACLS certification – American Heart Association only
- PALS certification – American Heart Association only
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- CPI certification required (online version: The Calm Every Storm is the only acceptable online vendor)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required; first-time travelers with strong ED experience will be considered
- Must be comfortable floating within specialty, including to the ED Hold/Observation unit, with no restrictions
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (permanent address)
- Prior experience with EPIC EMR
- Experience in a high-volume or high-acuity Emergency Department setting
- Familiarity with ED Hold/Observation unit workflows
- Opportunity to work in a large, fast-paced Emergency Department with a diverse patient population spanning all age groups and a wide variety of complex diagnoses
- Expected schedule of 36 hours per week with no pre-scheduled on-call obligations
