The Lab Instrument Service Specialist is responsible for performing preventative maintenance (PM), routine calibration, performance qualification (PQ), troubleshooting, repair, and inventory management of analytical instrumentation and laboratory equipment. This role ensures optimal performance and minimal downtime of critical laboratory systems, including HPLC equipment, mass spectrometers, and particle accelerators.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on analytical instruments and laboratory equipment; establish PM programs for new equipment and update existing programs as needed.
- Install, configure, and qualify new analytical instrumentation and laboratory equipment, including conducting performance qualification (PQ).
- Troubleshoot and repair analytical instruments and laboratory equipment efficiently and accurately to minimize downtime.
- Monitor equipment performance and failure trends to identify root causes and implement appropriate remediation strategies.
- Develop and implement testing procedures and maintenance strategies to ensure optimal instrument performance and reliability.
- Maintain accurate, compliant documentation and records for analytical instruments and laboratory equipment.
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory of instrument consumables, spare parts, and related supplies.
- Associate degree (60+ credit hours) with 2+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor of Science in a related field.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with laboratory instrumentation troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience operating HPLCs, mass spectrometers, and automated liquid handling systems.
- Strong knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Experience with equipment maintenance, performance testing, and quality control processes.
- Strong technical documentation and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
