General Summary & Scope
The Experience Manager (EM) leads Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values to develop a high‑performing team that consistently delivers top‑line sales growth in retail and services. The EM manages a team of stylists, estheticians, guest coordinators, assistant services managers, sales managers, and boutique leads. Responsibilities include guest experience, retail sales, services (salon services, boutiques, makeup), and NPS. The EM drives performance through focus on results, people, and process.
PrincipalDuties and Responsibilities Performance
- Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed store goals related to services, boutiques, retail sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel, and shrink.
- Drive company profitability through operational excellence, top‑line sales growth, and expense control.
- Use store forecast and payroll budgets to schedule and communicate staffing needs.
- Improve under‑performing metrics by developing strategies using company tools and resources.
- Support direct reports in developing and maintaining clientele.
- Perform makeup applications, skin‑care analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and guest experience.
- Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services.
- Maintain attendance and hold associates accountable to the Ulta Beauty attendance policy.
- Attract, hire, retain, and source a diverse team using multiple channels.
- Build a highly engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand.
- Create an inclusive environment that inspires growth and engagement.
- Support manager and associate professional development with training, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Encourage ongoing training in brand and category education.
- Ensure direct reports receive ongoing training.
- Build peer and brand partner relationships to collaboratively deliver sales and service goals.
- Model teamwork and guest service excellence.
- Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program and achieve annual performance goals.
- Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
- Adhere to and enforce the dress code.
- Use scheduling tools to create and adjust schedules and manage attendance.
- Use task‑management tools to prioritize and execute store workload.
- Protect company assets and minimize loss through safety, inventory control, and cash management.
- Execute inventory control processes and report theft as required.
- Support continuous improvement by adopting company initiatives and technology.
- Use company programs and resources to drive store improvements.
- Communicate business trends, opportunities, and operational challenges to leadership.
- Education
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree. - Required:
Cosmetology license and/or cosmetology management license where state law mandates.
- Preferred:
- Experience
- 2–3+ years of retail management or relevant fast‑paced experience.
- Financial management: driving sales, interpreting data, managing payroll budgets.
- Cosmetology management: advanced competency in services, guest experience, product attachment, and knowledge of Board of Cosmetology regulations.
- Retail management: inventory monitoring, operational excellence, merchandise directives.
- Leadership: attracting, developing, and motivating talent; leading through change.
- Skills
- Proficiency with POS, Microsoft Office, and Apple devices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and multitasking.
- Ability to perform under pressure with good judgment.
Position Requirements
- Work a flexible full‑time schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Attend corporate business meetings and conferences.
- Continuous mobility during shift.
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and twisting.
- Frequent lifting/moving up to 25 lbs.
- Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
- Frequent use of computer, telephone, and office supplies.
The pay range for this position is $30.00–$37.00 per hour, with the opportunity for additional compensation under the company’s bonus plan. Full‑time employees are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits; part‑time employees are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
