A leading global consulting firm is seeking accomplished Health & Benefits Sales Professionals to join its employee benefits consulting practice. This is an opportunity for a consultative, growth-oriented sales leader to help employers address complex challenges across employee benefits, healthcare, financial security, and career development.
The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of the Health and Benefits or Employee Benefits consulting marketplace with a proven record of developing new business, expanding strategic relationships, engaging senior executives, and closing complex opportunities. This role is best suited to a true mid-market hunter who understands the needs of organizations with approximately 1,000-5,000 employee lives.
There are three openings across the listed markets. Washington, DC is the highest-priority location.
Work ModelThis is a hybrid position requiring at least three days per week in the office, with two days remote. Candidates should be prepared to work from one of the approved locations listed below.
Key Responsibilities In this role, you will:- Drive sales goals across a substantial book of complex or high-value accounts through regular client presentations, business-development calls, and strategic meetings.
- Develop and execute territory and account strategies that identify new opportunities, expand existing relationships, and increase market penetration.
- Use market intelligence and knowledge of internal service offerings to conduct targeted outreach, engage prospective clients, generate interest, and secure meetings with decision-makers.
- Create persuasive sales proposals, presentations, and RFP responses that address sophisticated prospect needs and clearly communicate the business value of consulting services.
- Lead complex sales processes from opportunity identification through close, including stakeholder alignment, pricing negotiations, product discussions, expectation setting, and execution planning.
- Research relevant markets and industries to identify emerging client needs, target new accounts, and uncover expansion opportunities within the broader book of business.
- Build trusted relationships with prospective and existing account representatives, C-suite executives, and other stakeholders while ensuring a high level of service satisfaction.
- Introduce additional solutions and services to established clients, facilitate cross-selling opportunities, and deepen long-term strategic relationships.
- Represent the firm through professional associations, industry organizations, conferences, and regional events while expanding and maintaining a strong professional network.
- At least five years of relevant professional experience, with flexibility for candidates whose industry background strongly aligns with the role.
- Demonstrated experience selling to organizations with approximately 1,000-5,000 employee lives.
- Practical knowledge of the Employee Benefits or Health and Benefits consulting industry, including relevant products and services.
- A strong, verifiable record of achieving sales goals and developing new business.
- The ability to demonstrate genuine hunting and business-development capabilities beyond relying solely on existing broker-channel relationships.
- A well-developed professional network and the ability to gain access to C-suite and other senior decision-makers.
- Strong consultative selling, presentation, negotiation, communication, territory-planning, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Active Life and Health license.

They will be able to explain how they build a territory plan, identify and qualify opportunities, engage C-suite stakeholders, manage a sizeable book of business, lead complex proposals and negotiations, and convert qualified opportunities into sustained client relationships. Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific sales results, production outcomes, book-of-business scope, target-market size, and examples of quota attainment.
