Deputy Sheriff:School Resource Officer (Ongoing Recruitment)
Deputy Sheriff School Resource Officer (SRO) for Elementary Schools must be Maryland Police Training Commission (MPTC) Certified. 10 Month Seasonal Position (August through June).
Duties Include:
- Deter criminal activity in school and the school's community by being highly visible throughout the school day and at after-school activities.
- To assist in educating students as to the role of law enforcement in our society.
- To maintain contact and positive relationships with school-based groups such as Parent Teacher Associations and Booster Clubs.
- To assist school administrators in diagnosing law enforcement-related problems in the school or on school grounds by providing referrals and interventions as needed.
- Conduct regular security inspections of school buildings and grounds.
Must have two years of experience as a Maryland Police Training Commission Certified Law Enforcement Officer. Must meet the following conditions: physical agility test, polygraph, background investigation, medical and mental health examinations, and computer operation, including word processing and data entry. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. All employment applications must be complete to be considered.
