Job Summary

Part-Time Journeyman HVAC Mechanic position (DOE) in Germantown, MD. The HVAC Mechanic will operate, monitor, troubleshoot, repair, and perform routine preventive maintenance services on base building HVAC and other related mechanical equipment. The position is covered by the CBA for Local 99.

Schedule: Saturday 6:00am - 2:00pm

• Installs, services and repairs environment-control systems in commercial buildings, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipe fitting and structural layout.
• Mounts compressor and condenser units on platforms or floor using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications; the candidate must be familiar with Screw Type and Reciprocating Chiller.
• Installs, services, and maintains environmental equipment/control systems.
• Extensive knowledge of packaged direct expansion units, split systems, chilled water piping systems, DDC, pneumatic, and electric controls is a must.
• Has good troubleshooting skills with electrical circuits/components for refrigeration equipment and refrigerate piping systems.
• Can read both ladder and line wiring diagrams.
• Assists estimators with HVAC layout within building environment.
• Communicates well with customers/co-workers and can handle being under pressure at times.
• Organized with completing paperwork and managing refrigeration/parts inventory.
• Has average skill level with rigging, handling, and moving equipment; seeks out and corrects potential problems before they occur.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and concerns is a must.

• Must have HVAC Journeyman License (MD).
• Must have or be able to obtain Government Clearance (L Level).
• Must have CFC Universal certificate.
• Siemens Apogee Factory training and/or JCI Metasys Factory Training preferred.
• Formal apprenticeship with 4 or more years of training.
• Have at least 5 years of experience as a Journeyman in servicing and repair of equipment.
• Accomplish all other assigned duties.
