Embedded Software Engineer – Linux, FPGA & Hardware Integration
Location:
Germantown, MD (Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week)
Salary: $125,000–$155,000 annually For security reasons, this company is unable to sponsor this role.
Must Have the Following:
- 4+ years of embedded software development experience
- Strong C/C++ programming skills
- Linux kernel and embedded Linux experience
- Hardware bring-up and debugging experience
- FPGA familiarity (Verilog or VHDL)
- Python and/or Bash scripting
- Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and lab equipment
- Claude - AI-assisted software development experience with ownership of code quality
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, testing, and validation of embedded systems.
- Develop embedded software, Linux kernel modules, and Linux user-space applications.
- Design and integrate hardware, FPGA logic, and embedded software.
- Support analog and mixed-signal hardware design reviews, debugging, and validation.
- Participate in hardware bring-up, system integration, and troubleshooting.
- Develop manufacturing tools, automated testing procedures, and validation processes.
- Architect future embedded platforms by gaining deep technical knowledge of secure systems and hardware technologies.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency while maintaining full ownership of code quality and correctness.
- Help establish best practices for AI-assisted software development across the engineering team.
- Assist with technical planning, project coordination, and engineering execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of embedded software development experience.
- Strong experience developing software for embedded Linux platforms and Linux kernel environments.
- Expert-level programming experience with C and C++.
- Experience with Python and/or Bash scripting.
- Experience configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Linux-based systems.
- Experience with embedded hardware bring-up and debugging.
- Familiarity with FPGA development using Verilog or VHDL.
- Understanding of RF, low-noise analog circuits, or mixed-signal hardware is preferred.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other electronic lab equipment.
- Familiarity with digital signal processing or control system algorithms is a plus.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools while maintaining engineering ownership and code quality.
