Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

Description

Robert Half Management Resources is working with a growing organization in the Germantown, TN area seeking an experienced Controller to lead core accounting operations and support ongoing transformation initiatives. This is a high-visibility role ideal for a hands-on accounting leader with strong systems expertise and a process-improvement mindset.

Position Overview

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close, while also playing a key role in SAP S/4

HANA system utilization and enhancement efforts. This individual will serve as a critical partner to finance leadership and operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and scalable accounting processes.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

+ Own the full-cycle general ledger accounting function, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation

+ Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness

+ Maintain and enhance reporting and controls within SAP S/4

HANA

+ Support and/or lead ERP implementation, upgrade, or optimization initiatives

+ Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control requirements (SOX-like environments as applicable)

+ Develop and streamline accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy

+ Partner with FP& A and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

+ Coordinate with external auditors and support audit preparation requirements

+ Supervise and develop accounting team members as applicable

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ Strong full GL accounting and financial reporting experience

+ Hands-on experience with SAP S/4

HANA (required)

+ Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling)

+ Proven experience supporting or leading ERP implementation or system transformation

+ Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls

+ Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

+ CPA certification preferred

+ Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager in a complex environment

+ Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity operations

+ Exposure to offshore/shared services accounting structures

+ Private equity-backed or high-growth company experience a plus
