Position OverviewThe Patient Scheduling Coordinator II is responsible for managing patient scheduling functions, including registration, referral processing, insurance verification, and pre-certification activities. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring efficient clinic operations and positive patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Greet patients and their representatives professionally and courteously
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Schedule appointments for office visits, labs, radiology tests, injections, and chemotherapy/infusion
- Coordinate new internal referrals and manage all relevant appointment types
- Handle patient no-shows and process clinic discharges as necessary
- Maintain accurate scheduling templates and optimize provider schedules
- Respond to incoming phone calls and emails related to scheduling inquiries
- Send out appointment reminders and rescheduling notices
- Report scheduling or workflow issues to leadership promptly
- Provide general administrative assistance and patient support
- Cross-train with other team members to promote departmental efficiency
- Ensure compliance with safety and confidentiality standards
- Participate in staff meetings and assist in onboarding new employees
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 6 months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Effective multitasking and prioritization in a fast-paced setting
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
