Cleaning Service Worker – City of Germantown

Under direct supervision, keep city buildings and grounds clean, orderly, and attractive. Operate buffers, vacuums, and similar equipment; empty trash and pick-up trash from areas immediately surrounding the buildings. Clean and sanitize restrooms in city buildings and park ground facilities.

• Sweeps, mops, and polishes floors.
• Vacuums and shampoos carpets.
• Removes trash and other refuse from buildings.
• Cleans, sanitizes, and services restrooms in city buildings and park ground facilities.
• Dusts equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
• Washes walls and windows as scheduled.
• Sweeps sidewalk and removes trash and other debris from around buildings and dumpster bins.
• Water and dust indoor plants.
• Uses plunger to unstop sinks and toilets.
• Delivers supplies to other departments as requested.
• Assists in setting up and cleaning up for special events including setting up tables and chairs, preparing coffee and stocking refreshment tables.
• Performs related tasks as required.

• Knowledge of various cleaning equipment, tools, and materials.
• Knowledge of use and standard safety practices in operating equipment and applying cleaning materials.
• Skill in operating building cleaning equipment including buffer and vacuum.
• Ability to follow oral/written instructions.
• Ability to read and understand operation manuals.
• Skill in communicating to obtain, clarify, or give information.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including climbing and working from a 6‑ft ladder.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions including safety warnings.
• Education:
  
  less than high‑school education; experience preferred: 3‑6 months building custodial experience.
