Summary Of Position
The staff nurse provides direct nursing care to residents and delegates and supervises the care provided by nursing assistants. Takes ownership of assigned unit and acts accordingly to ensure effective operation of that unit. Administers medications, performs treatments and procedures, obtains specimens as needed, and completes documentation as required.

- Minimum LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) Degree. Two years of experience working as an LPN, including some medical/surgical experience and awareness of the needs of geriatric residents.
- Provides daily supervision and leadership to assigned staff and directly provides nursing care to residents in Skilled Nursing Unit, Assisted Nursing Unit, Wellness Center, Dementia Unit, as assigned.
- Walking rounds with off‑going LPN and shift report to ensure proper communication has occurred between each shift.
- Assesses residents every shift and is aware of any change in condition, acting appropriately. Makes rounds on every resident at a minimum of every 2 hours.
- Participates in the admission of new residents and ensures that all admission assessments and orders are entered and completed correctly.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living (ADL), family/social activities and actively promotes independent lifestyle of residents.
- Responds promptly and courteously to residents' call system and ensures all residents’ needs are taken care of in a timely manner.
- Responsible for identifying resident medical and behavioral changes, developing and monitoring care plans, and re‑assessment of each resident.
- Provides daily reports to the Director of Nurses, RN Supervisor, and/or Charge Nurse concerning facility conditions, personnel performance, resident conditions, and needs for nursing supplies.
- Completes work and tasks on time within the scheduled time frame. Will not work overtime unless approved by RN Supervisor, Staffing Coordinator, or Director of Nursing.
- Consistently demonstrates hospitality behavior and the core values of quality, respect, service, and integrity.
- Ensures that resident weights are completed and entered in the system per policy.
- Monitors meal service to ensure safety for all residents.
- Ensures all residents receive proper grooming, showers, and oral care as assigned.
- Provides hospitality to all residents, family members, visitors, and other staff members.
- Works on the unit assigned by the RN Supervisor, Staffing Coordinator, or Director of Nursing. May be subject to float to another unit as needed.
- Provides complete discharge instructions, education, and medications to residents at the time of discharge.
- Completes incident reports, audits, and other reports as assigned in a timely manner.
