Scope of Position

This skilled individual will support production equipment and facility infrastructure. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of industrial equipment and facility systems. Mechanics in this role work closely with engineering teams to implement, install, and commission new equipment and production systems. The ideal candidate has strong industrial experience, prioritizes safety, and understands the importance of uptime in a production environment.

This position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor. This role is onsite and is based in Germantown, WI.

Primary

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyzes, diagnoses, troubleshoots, CNC based equipment and resolves mechanical issues.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.
  • Perform precision maintenance on production equipment, conveyors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
  • Rebuild and overhaul machinery and components to OEM specifications.
  • Perform advanced alignment, balancing, and vibration-related mechanical work.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
  • Support and troubleshoot FANUC robotics cells, including knowledge of safety circuits and end‑of‑arm tooling.
  • Identify failure trends and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair needs, and improvement opportunities to supervision and operations.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and determine corrective actions.
  • Install, align, and dismantle machinery and mechanical components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Use precision measuring tools and hand/power tools effectively.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and machining as required.
  • Replace bearings, seals, belts, chains, and other warn components.
  • Knowledge Mechanical issues on presses, CNC machines, conveyors, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Knowledge of VFDs motors, servos, encoders, and motor control systems.
  • Support Mechanical requirements for new equipment installations, line moves, and process changes.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Document Mechanical repairs, upgrades, and system modifications.
  • Utilizes Preventative Maintenance (PM) program (Limble).
  • Manages inventory of Mechanical supplies and contacts vendors.
  • Accountable for department metrics (SQDCI).
  • Supports new product development at maintenance level.
  • Supports Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to install, integrate, and commission new equipment and production lines.
  • Use department measuring instruments, gauges, and meters properly.
  • Proficient knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical & equipment processes.
  • Assists in training of department employees.
  • Familiar with plant and all department layouts upon hire.
  • Operate stand‑up and sit‑down forklifts under supervision.
  • Completes industrial lift truck certifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with all team members across departments.
  • Helps support other department functions as needed.
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Understand and abide by all company safety policies.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Manufacturing Supervisor or Company management.
  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency).
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of industrial or manufacturing experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical systems from low voltage through 480 volts.
  • Experience working with PLC‑controlled equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, maintenance, and production teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both power and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings, ladder logic, one‑lines, and machine documentation.
  • Ability to perform lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and elevated work safely.
