Electrical Controls Designer – Industrial Schematic Specialist
$65,000 – $85,000
• Greater Milwaukee Area
• 100% Onsite
• Direct-Hire
For an Electrical CAD Designer who thrives on technical variety and rapid execution, this direct-hire opportunity provides an exceptional space to expand your automation knowledge. The employer is a dynamic, highly agile controls partner experiencing massive regional expansion due to the surging demand for smart warehouse, factory floor, and automated solutions. They have been doubling their revenue footprint annually, moving from their primary office into an additional, freshly purchased 6,000 sq.
ft. state-of-the-art UL panel production facility.
The company completely rejects stagnant, corporate conglomerate silos and glass ceilings. One week you might be mapping out a complex software-to-hardware interface, and the next you'll be diving deep into a comprehensive electrical layout for a multi-axis robotic cell. You will be part of a collaborative, zero-bureaucracy environment alongside some of the sharpest minds in automation, backed by full health insurance, a company-matched retirement plan, and a rock-solid project pipeline.
WhatYou Will Be Doing
- Generating, modifying, and finalizing robust electrical schematics, power distribution diagrams, and control panel layouts for high-complexity custom automation projects.
- Managing and driving large-scale, comprehensive blueprint packages (frequently spanning massive, multi-page drawing sets) with a sharp focus on drafting efficiency, accuracy, and output speed.
- Translating physical system architectures—including robotic welding cells, high-speed conveyor sortation networks, and specialized testing equipment—into clean, functional CAD drawings.
- Collaborating closely with build technicians, project engineers, and client-side stakeholders to ensure all schematics conform to bill of materials (BOM) specifications and client engineering standards.
- Utilizing a deep, practical understanding of electrical components to design systems that are highly optimized for seamless physical assembly on the production floor.
- Schematic Design Depth:
At least 5 years of verifiable experience drafting and engineering industrial electrical schematics. You must thoroughly understand what you are drawing—bridging the gap between theory and real-world panel wiring. - CAD System Proficiency:
Complete mastery of CAD, with hands-on design experience using AutoCAD Electrical, Solid Works Electrical, E-Plan, or Sky-Plan highly preferred. - Automation Industry Track Record: 5+ years of dedicated experience working for a custom machine builder, a robotics integrator, or a material handling/conveyor systems integrator.
- Velocity & Focus: A natural drive for high-speed drafting execution without sacrificing quality or accuracy on large-scale production sets.
- Stability & Local Presence: A stable, reliable employment history coupled with permanent residency located within a comfortable 45-minute commute of the Greater Milwaukee area.
