Maintenance Welder

This role focuses on welding and fabricating ramps, decks, and loading systems for a wide range of customers, including motorsports and specialized transport applications. You will work with aluminum using MIG and TIG processes, interpret blueprints, and contribute to high-quality production in a clean, supportive, and growth-oriented fabrication shop.

Responsibilities

• Weld and fabricate ramps, decks, and loading systems according to project specifications and customer requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to plan and execute welding and fabrication tasks accurately.
• Perform MIG welding on aluminum components, ensuring strong, clean, and consistent welds.
• Perform TIG welding on aluminum and other materials as required for precision and specialized projects.
• Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, including MIG and TIG machines, in accordance with safety and quality standards.
• Use fabrication tools and equipment (such as saws, grinders, and measuring tools) to cut, fit, and assemble metal components.
• Operate a forklift as needed to move materials, components, and finished products safely within the shop.
• Inspect welds and fabricated assemblies for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as needed.
• Follow production schedules and meet deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling and storage of materials and equipment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve fabrication challenges and improve processes.
• Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn new techniques, take on specialized projects, and grow within the organization.

Essential Skills

• Experience in MIG welding, specifically on aluminum components.
• Experience in TIG welding for precision and specialized applications.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Hands-on experience with aluminum welding in a production or fabrication environment.
• Proficiency with fabrication processes, including fitting, cutting, and assembling metal structures.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely in a shop or production setting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and assemblies.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
• Basic schooling or formal training related to welding or fabrication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Formal schooling or certification in welding, fabrication, or a related trade.
• Experience with both MIG and TIG welding processes across different materials.
• BG in fabrication (FAB), including layout, fit-up, and finishing work.
• Exposure to military-style welding training or specialized welding projects.
• Previous experience working in a production-focused metal fabrication shop.
• Comfort working with aluminum in high-volume or custom production environments.

Work Environment

The shop offers multiple shift options, including a first shift from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday with shorter hours on Fridays, and a weekend shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a shift premium. Additional hours during the week are available for those who want them. The facility is clean, comfortable in temperature, and slightly dusty due to normal fabrication activities.

The environment is production-oriented yet supportive, with modern welding equipment and fabrication tools. Personal protective equipment, including helmets and other safety gear, is provided, and employees are expected to follow standard shop safety practices and dress appropriately for a welding and fabrication setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Germantown, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
