Registered Nurse Job Description

Patient Assessment:
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, medical histories, and nursing assessments, to identify patients' healthcare needs and conditions.

Care Planning:
Develop individualized care plans based on patients' needs, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and holistic care.

Medication Administration:
Administer medications and treatments prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate dosages, proper routes, and adherence to medication schedules.

Patient Monitoring:
Monitor and document patients' vital signs, reactions to medications, and responses to treatments. Notify the healthcare team promptly of any significant changes.

Wound Care and Procedures:
Provide wound care, assist with medical procedures, and support patients during diagnostic tests or surgeries as needed.

Patient

Education:

Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies to promote health and wellness.

IV Therapy:
Administer intravenous (IV) medications, fluids, and blood products while adhering to sterile techniques and safety guidelines.

Infection Control:
Follow strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with physicians, other healthcare professionals, and support staff to ensure seamless care coordination and efficient patient outcomes.

Emergency Response:
Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate nursing interventions to stabilize patients' conditions and initiate appropriate care.

Documentation:
Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including nursing assessments, care plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

Advocacy:
Advocate for patients' rights and ensure their needs and preferences are communicated and addressed throughout their healthcare journey.

Quality Improvement:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including evaluating patient care outcomes and implementing evidence-based practices.

Requirements:

Valid and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the respective state.

Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Strong clinical skills and knowledge of nursing procedures and best practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Ability to adapt to dynamic healthcare environments and make quick and sound clinical decisions.

Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to nursing care.
