Job Summary:
This job organizes, plans, leads, and directs clinical and management activities for the designated department in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Accountable for daily operations and oversight of nursing practice and patient care delivery. Participates as a member of the health care team in maintaining continuity and quality of patient care. Contributes to organizational operations and supports the mission by fostering interdepartmental communication and collaboration.
Demonstrates a high level of ability in leadership, supervisory skills, problem solving, patient advocacy and public relations.
Manages daily clinical operations to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective patient care.
Develops new programs and implements systems to enhance service standards.
Ensures documentation compliance and resolves escalated administrative/operational issues.
Collaborates with other departments to improve productivity and communicates key information to leadership.
Monitors/troubleshoots service recovery and other escalated concerns, resolving them within the defined scope of responsibility. Collaborates with other departments to address and resolve problems, share information and enhance overall effectiveness/productivity.
Identifies the need for changes in standards, programs and services and develops recommendations for the Director’s consideration.
Directs clinical and administrative staff, ensuring proper training, qualification, and regular communication.
Makes employment decisions, sets performance standards, and manages employee development.
Holds regular staff meetings and keeps employees apprised of all matters relevant to successful job performance.
Ensures operations comply with internal policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
Monitors patient outcomes, quality control, and satisfaction to drive performance improvements.
Participates in budget planning, monitors expenditures, and controls overtime to meet financial goals.
Monitors work schedules and staffing levels to meet budgetary requirements and control overtime and/or premium pay.
Identifies staffing needs and reports budgetary variances to the Director.
Manages clinical/administrative staff, ensuring compliance with internal policies and HR regulations.
Ensures staff are qualified, properly trained, and informed on job-related matters. Handles hiring, sets performance standards, and conducts evaluations.
Educates, counsels, and mentors staff, resolving elevated technical and performance issues.
- Contributes to long-term strategies for service expansion, standardization, and resource optimization.
Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
3 years of experience and clinical knowledge in the same or similar clinical specialty
2 years in a charge nurse/ leadership or equivalent position
Registered Nurse License: WA
Basic Life Support – CPR, through the American Heart Association
BSN, upon hire or
Bachelors degree in a related field
Certification in the specialty area

Pay Range$57.58 – $95.95 /hour
