Most facilities offer a 5x8 schedule with Day, Evening, and Night block scheduling available. Candidates will submit their shift availability during the application process.
Position SummaryThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing quality nursing care within a correctional healthcare setting under the direction of Registered Nurses and healthcare providers. Duties include medication administration, patient monitoring, treatment support, documentation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. LPNs play a critical role in ensuring safe, ethical, and effective care for incarcerated individuals.
Responsibilities- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Monitor and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
- Assist with health assessments and nursing evaluations
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies
- Coordinate care with RNs, providers, and healthcare staff
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records
- Educate patients regarding healthcare needs and treatment plans
- Adhere to facility policies, security procedures, and nursing standards
- Active Washington State LPN license
- Minimum of 1 year of LPN experience preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively in a correctional healthcare environment

The Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse works in close and immediate contact with adults and children in custody on a daily basis providing general and emergency nursing care in the Medical and Ambulatory section of the Corrections Facility while maintaining facility security standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possesses a current Practical Nursing License in the applicable state
- Minimum of one year experience in Corrections preferred
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
