Position: Target Security Specialist

The Starting Hourly Rate is $21.25 USD per hour. Pay Range is $21.25 - $31.90 USD per hour.

ALL ABOUT ASSETS PROTECTION

Assets Protection (AP) teams function to keep guests, team, and brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing, and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guests. They also build relationships inside and outside of Target, including store leaders and public safety officials, inclusive of law enforcement.

Role Overview

  • Use intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure.
  • Respond to crises, manage safety and crowds, and support both guests and team members.
  • De‑escalate while applying physical security controls and culture.
  • Use Target’s video surveillance system.
  • Document cases accurately in case‑management systems.
Typical Responsibilities
  • Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:
  • Greet guests within 10 feet with a friendly smile, eye contact, or wave.
  • At 4 feet greet the guest, smile, and initiate a warm, helpful interaction.
  • Help guests find what they need and resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience.
  • End every transaction with a sincere thank you.
  • Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive, respectful attitude.
  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy, inspiring experience.
  • Promote a physical security culture by assessing and maintaining safe standards throughout the store, including exterior property.
  • Respond to and document incidents promptly.
  • Use de‑escalation tactics and resources when responding to security incidents.
  • Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide apprehension support as needed, strictly following AP policies.
  • Prevent theft and shortage at the front of store by performing receipt checks and recognizing trends.
  • Submit appropriate documentation in the case‑management system for all incidents following AP policy and procedures.
  • Use Target’s video surveillance system appropriately.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
  • Work safely at all times; follow all safety policies and training, report hazards, and correct where possible.
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology as directed.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Work independently and with a team; manage workload and prioritize tasks.
  • Capable of remaining focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within time frames.
Additional Expectations
  • Climb up and down ladders.
  • Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy.
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Work a flexible schedule; attend scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.
  • Work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements during duties such as Drive‑Up or carry‑out.
  • Remain mobile for the duration of a shift, which may vary.
