Position Summary
The Sales Manager will be responsible for establishing and building long‑lasting relationships and trust with guests through the planning, organizing, promoting, facilitating and coordination of private events, both corporate and private, ensuring their repeat business. The incumbent will provide administrative and creative support for the management team through ongoing communication to secure positive results.
- Solicit new business through outreach with a view to securing and closing events.
- Become extremely familiar with Perry’s Menu, Standards and Service Procedures to ensure guests get correct guidance and information pertaining to their requests, and that Perry's quality standards are consistently upheld.
- Daily communication with management and chef to review event wine, event details, setups, changes, timelines for upcoming events.
- Schedule weekly meetings with the General Manager & Executive Chef to review upcoming events and review challenges from the prior week to ensure greater results in the future.
- Research and work with local Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, and Chambers of Commerce to prepare the restaurant for heavy traffic and be aware of possible private dining events to be solicited.
- Conduct site tours with prospective clients, selling Perry's benefits and amenities.
- Inspect and critically evaluate meeting space/private rooms to ensure a consistently high standard of quality in product: presentation, service and food.
- Develop and execute plans and layouts for business meetings, luncheons, dinners and receptions.
- Schedule events and coordinate appointments to ensure Perry's effectively meets the guest’s needs, followed by preparing detailed event agreements.
- Create and revise plans and layouts of different events in collaboration with management.
- Provide guidance to guest with regard to setup, menu choice and timeline; then communicate clearly and work with chef and management to follow guest outline.
- Conduct pre-event meetings with the service staff and party manager to ensure proper setup and specific needs for all events ensuring that venue is prepped on time.
- Greet hosts of all parties on the day of their event.
- Must maintain a polished appearance with professional apparel, including, but not limited to, a high level of personal hygiene, naturally colored hair and nails, no visible tattoos or piercings (with the exception of pierced ears for women – one per lobe), and conservative make‑up.
- Ensure that Perry’s meets all contractual obligations, particularly when dealing with 3rd party organizers.
- Properly review and calculate commission based on party percentage and report to Payroll for timely processing.
- Soliciting, accepting and replying to feedback with the view to making the next event even more successful, working with the GM to find a positive solution.
- Support the Management team with private event responsibilities, such as menu printing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of hospitality event coordination or restaurant management/administrative support experience preferably in a fine dining setting.
- Experience working in the restaurant industry a plus.
- Prior experience in Sales, Customer Service/Public Relations.
- Familiarity with Open Table, Gather, and Aloha Point of Sale system (to be applied in communicating, planning, budgeting and organizing an event) preferred but not required.
- Maintain a valid Drivers’ license as travel during the business day or some overnight travel may be expected.
- Experience with third party contract stewardship.
- Must be able to write and speak effectively in order to compose correspondence and interact face‑to‑face and/or on the phone with guests, actively listens to others, asks questions to verify understanding, and uses tact and consideration when delivering feedback to others.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations as it applies to business on hand.
