The Project Site Safety Manager is responsible for the overall administration, implementation, and enforcement of safety policies and procedures on assigned projects. This position serves as the primary safety leader on-site, promoting a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements. The Site Safety Manager must take an active role in professional development, provide leadership to field personnel, and proactively identify and mitigate workplace hazards.

This role requires punctuality, attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Lead and monitor all safety efforts of Kovach employees and subcontractors, conducting weekly project safety toolbox talks and enforcing company safety policies. Arrive at the job site promptly at the required start time as indicated by the Project Superintendent.
  • Champion and promote the Kovach safety culture through leadership, coaching, and accountability.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Kovach safety policies, OSHA regulations, client requirements, and applicable construction safety standards. Ensure compliance through consistent enforcement and documentation.
  • Coordinate with project supervision to ensure all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), fall protection systems, and safety materials are available, properly maintained, and utilized correctly.
  • Strictly adhere to Kovach's safety protocols and project-specific requirements. Communicate all safety concerns, incidents, and corrective actions immediately to the Project Superintendent and Safety Director.
  • Manage injury reporting procedures, assist with incident investigations, and ensure timely communication to the Company Safety Director.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards while implementing corrective actions to prevent incidents.
  • Assist project teams with daily pre-task planning, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety audits, inspections, and all required safety documentation.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and safety training to field personnel to improve overall safety awareness and performance.
  • Promote a team-oriented environment focused on the safety and well‑being of all employees on‑site.
  • Demonstrate initiative and actively seek opportunities to improve safety programs, processes, and personal knowledge of construction operations.
Skills And Qualifications
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Certification (issued within the past 3 years) required.
  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, including at least 3 years in a dedicated safety leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, fall protection, aerial lifts, rigging, cranes, and construction safety best practices.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and safety training.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Proficiency with safety reporting and documentation systems preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Regular exposure to elevated noise levels due to construction equipment and machinery.
