Library Clerk Part-Time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform circulation desk tasks, including charge/discharge of all materials, book renewals, book reserves, and collection of fines using an automated system; organize and check books in the pre‑shelving stage, shelve books, straighten shelves, move books to make room, and facilitate shelf reading; monitor internet computers and maintain usage logs.
• Maintain customer confidentiality in compliance with Arizona State Law; maintain customer information database file on an automated system and provide routine reports regarding customer usage and other statistics.
• Assist with routine problems, customer service and reference questions; register new customers for library cards, enter customer data into an automated system and give key information to help customers use the library environment; assist customers in using public computers, online resources and the library automation system; answer or locate information regarding reference questions and assist in book selections.
• Provide community outreach, including programming for children, teens, and adults; assist in the planning of summer reading programs for children.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED.

• One (1) year of experience in literacy programming or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be fluent in English;
  Spanish preferred.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License if position duties require it.
