Must have a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to processing.

Certification Notes

Applicants need to hold an Arizona Elementary Certificate with an Endorsement in Music or a Music Education, PreK-12 Music Certificate. Gilbert Public Schools does not accept the Subject Matter Expert Standard Teaching, 6-12 Certificates.

Purpose Statement

To provide instruction with state and district guidelines.

Essential Functions
  • Plans and implements a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students within the district curriculum.
  • Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Creates a weekly written lesson plan describing daily learning experiences, correlated with curriculum objectives.
  • Monitors and assesses student progress and provides feedback to students and parents.
  • Diagnoses, instructs, and evaluates specific student needs and seeks assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Communicates aims and objectives to students in a well‑planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interest.
  • Assists the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student behavior.
  • Develops classroom rules of behavior and procedures fairly and justly.
  • Creates educational experiences that provide students opportunities to develop personal‑social adjustment, decision‑making, positive self‑image and other life skills.
  • Promotes and follows school district philosophy, policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community professionally and ethically.
  • Assumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or during school‑sponsored activities.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities assigned by the principal or supervisor (committee work, student activities, supervision, planning).
  • Maintains accurate, complete and legible records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

Experience, Education, and Certifications
  • No experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution; continuing professional development specific to job requirements.
  • Valid Arizona Standard Professional Teacher Certificate with appropriate endorsements; must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed.
