- Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
- Assist classroom teacher by working with students needing supplemental instruction.
- Maintain open communication with the teacher.
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
- May work with teacher to plan lessons and prepare materials for upcoming lessons.
- Motivate and engage students in the material being covered.
- Monitor student progress and may conduct assessments to determine progress during the school year.
- Communicate progress information to classroom teacher.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
- Provide assistance to substitute teachers.
- Safeguard and maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma. Must possess an AA degree or 60 semester credits, or proof of passing score on the Para Pro assessment. Candidates not appropriately certified at time of hire must be appropriately certified within 60 days of hire.
- Capable of working with children one‑on‑one and in groups.
- Ability to relate to students, parents, and teachers in a positive manner.
- Experience with AR or DIBELS helpful but not required.
- Skills and ability to perform job functions including instruction, computer use, basic academic matters, problem solving, and managing work assignments.
- Ability to pass background and reference checks as stipulated by district standards.
- Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card.

- Frequent communication with parents, students, and staff including the exchange of accurate information.
- Frequent interaction with students by bending forward and at the waist, using lower extremities and back muscles; bending legs at the knee to rest on knees, or sitting on the floor and resuming an upright position.
- Move about on foot and remain standing while supervising students.
- Raise or lower objects ranging from 25‑50 lbs.
- Exert force to move an object away from or toward the force.
- Ascend and descend a small ladder with agility.
- Have visual acuity to perform activities with students.
Part‑time position – 10 months, Monday‑Friday, 29 hours per week.
Salary ClassificationAppropriate salary placement on the classified hourly salary schedule. This is a Title I funded position.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated by the site administrator and according to district policy.
