Hours Per Day: 7
Hourly Rate: $17.36 and up depending on experience

The Paraprofessional Specialist assists in the supervision and instruction of severely and moderately disabled special‑needs students under the supervision of a certificated teacher; observes and documents student progress; implements plans for instruction; and provides care for students with special health‑care needs.

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and materials to enable all special‑education students to participate in classroom activities.
• Assists special‑education students requiring daily care (toileting, feeding, dressing, suctioning, tube feeding, lifting, positioning, etc.) to provide appropriate care of medically fragile and/or physically handicapped students.
• Co‑ordinates with teachers and therapists to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Follows therapy routines and strategies directed by therapists.
• Implements academic instruction assigned by a teacher or therapist for individuals or small groups to meet IEP and district benchmark learning goals.
• Implements behavioral plans devised by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders.
• Instructs students on counting, colors, behavioral skills, daily‑living skills, verbal skills, etc., to meet remediation goals.
• Maintains instructional materials and student files/records to ensure availability and accurate documentation.
• Monitors special‑education students during lunch, playground, classroom, and field trips to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Participates in recording, reporting, and gathering data for the Direct Service Claiming (DSC) program to meet DSC requirements.
• Performs daily record keeping and clerical functions (e.g., correcting papers, copying materials) to support the teacher.
• Responds to emergency situations (e.g., student injuries, fights) to resolve immediate safety concerns.

• Assists other personnel as required to support completion of their work activities.
• Attends meetings and in‑service presentations to acquire and convey information related to job functions.

• Experience: Job‑related experience desired.
• Education: High‑school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications/Clearances: Valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card and CPR/First Aid Certificate required.
