Paraprofessional substitutes are paid the base rate of the position they are covering.
- Paraprofessional – Grade 105 – Hourly Rate $15.53
- Paraprofessional Assistant – Grade 106 – Hourly Rate $15.99
- Paraprofessional Technician – Grade 107 – Hourly Rate $16.48
- Paraprofessional Specialist – Grade 109 – Hourly Rate $17.54
Must possess a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card before processing.
Instructional paraprofessionals assigned to a school wide Title I campus become eligible for a supplemental financial incentive once required highly qualified status has been verified by the Office of Federal Programs.
Purpose StatementThe job of paraprofessional is to assist in the instruction of special‑needs students under the supervision of a certified teacher in a regular‑education and/or special‑education classroom.
Essential Functions- Assist other personnel as required to support their work activities.
- Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments (e.g., Math, reading, writing, language) to present and reinforce learning concepts and reach academic goals.
- Confere with teachers, parents, health professionals, and community agency personnel to evaluate students’ progress and implement behavioral objectives.
- Establish positive relationships with referred students to build confidence and self‑esteem through recognition, rewards, and training of appropriate behavior.
- Implement special strategies to improve students’ academic success by reinforcing materials or skills based on understanding of individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Monitor individual or small groups of students to provide a safe and positive environment.
- Participate in data recording, reporting, and collection for the MIPS program to meet requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and receive program information.
- Promote general record‑keeping and clerical functions (e.g., daily journal) to support teachers, therapists, and counselors.

Mental Requirements – Learning Development Level B:
Sufficient to read and write technical information and instructions, perform basic arithmetic, understand common procedures and methods, or operate equipment that requires training. Equivalent to completion of a high‑school curriculum.
Problem Solving Level 1:
Routine work situations requiring attention and concentration, with limited discretion and planning.
Physical Requirements – Physical Skill Level A:
Basic learned physical skill; normal mobility and handling of everyday objects. Physical Effort Level 1:
Minimal exertion; mostly sitting with occasional walking, lifting light materials.
Social Requirements – Human Relations Skill Level A:
Ordinary conversational skills to exchange routine information and maintain harmony. Scope of Contacts Level 1:
Contacts mainly with peers and supervisor; occasional external contacts.
Work Environment – Performance Environment Level A:
Infrequent changes, work pressure, disturbances. Physical Working Conditions Level 1:
Generally good; little exposure to extremes or hazards.
Accountability – Level of Accountability Level B:
Responsible for producing independent work output under supervision. Organizational Impact Level 1:
Results impact immediate work section with minimal effect beyond.
Experience:
Job‑related experience with increasing responsibility is desired.
Education:
High‑school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications/Clearances:
Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed.
