Job DescriptionESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
- Assist classroom Teacher by providing supplemental instruction to students.
- Maintain open communication with Teacher.
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the Teacher.
- Collaborate with teacher to plan lessons and prepare materials for upcoming lessons.
- Motivate and engage students in the material being covered.
- Monitor student progress and may conduct assessments to determine progress during the school year.
- Communicate progress information to classroom Teacher.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
- Provide assistance to substitute teachers.
- Safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of confidential student information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school Diploma. Must possess an AA or 60 semester credits, or proof of passing score on the Para Pro Assessment. Candidates not appropriately certified at time of hire must be appropriately certified within 60 days of hire.
- Capable of working with children one‑on‑one and in groups.
- Ability to relate to students, parents and teachers in a positive manner.
- Experience with AR or DIBELS helpful but not required.
- Skills and ability to perform the functions of the job to include instruction, computer use, basic academic matters, problem solving and managing work assignments.
- Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Frequent communication with parents, students, and staff, including the exchange of accurate information.
- Frequent interaction with students involving bending and kneeling or sitting on the floor to facilitate instruction.
- Ability to move about on foot and remain upright while supervising students.
- Raise or lower objects ranging from 25–50 lbs.
- Exert force upon an object to move it away from or toward the force.
- Ascend and descend small ladders with agility.
- Visual acuity sufficient to perform necessary activities with students.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Part‑Time Position – 10 months, Monday‑Friday, 29 hours per week
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule. This is a Title I funded position.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.
TOTAL PAID HOLIDAYS: 14
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level is usually moderate. HUSD participates in the Arizona State Retirement System; the Defined Benefit Plan provides for lifelong monthly retirement income for qualified members.

Salary: $17.46 to $20.54 per hour
