Become an Environmental Educator in Residence at Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon Conservancy seeks an experienced environmental educator from any discipline to live and work at Grand Canyon National Park’s South Rim for up to 8 weeks in 2027. The Environmental Educator in Residence will deliver engaging environmental programs to park visitors, staff, and the community during their residency.

Educators’ programs should include Grand Canyon’s geology, plants, wildlife, ecosystems, and/or other environmental factors with a focus on sustainability and personal impact. Approaches should be dynamic, fun, inspiring, and accessible to a global audience of all ages.

In addition to a CV and/or statement and documentation of previous public programs (videos and/or photos), we request brief descriptions of three to five proposed programs to be produced on-site.

What We Look For

Experienced educators who are enthusiastic about living and working on site to expand the public’s understanding of Grand Canyon National Park’s environment through compelling and inspirational programs that pique curiosity and prompt exploration.

What We Provide

Free accommodation at Grand Canyon National Park, a weekly stipend of $600, travel subsidy, staff support with programs, program supply reimbursement, marketing exposure, opportunities to work with K-12 students, and ongoing opportunities as alumni.

  • Residency Proposal
    • 2-5 descriptions of programs you’d like to provide to Grand Canyon visitors.
    • If applicable, a description of a learning supplement.
  • Scheduling:
    Best time of year for you to be in residence, scheduling conflicts, + requested duration of residency between 4 – 8 weeks.
  • Answers to questions:
    • What will you teach our visitors and community during your residency?
    • Why are you a great fit for this role?
  • Optional additional support materials.
  • An application fee of $25.00 is required to submit this form. Grand Canyon Indigenous Tribal Members who email residency with proof of membership can receive a complete fee waiver.
