Location: Higley Unified School district 60 Cooley Early Childhood Development Center, Gilbert, Arizona

Job DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
- Assist classroom teacher working with early childhood students, including preparing classroom materials, putting out supplies for activities, supervising a center, checking incoming backpacks for parent communication, ensuring teacher communication is in backpack to go home at end of day, collecting lunch boxes and recording lunch counts, and preparing snack calendars and/or newsletters to go home with students.
- Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs and personal hygiene.
- Help manage behavior of students.
- Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
- Help supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom (lunchroom, bus, playground duty).
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Prepare rooms at the beginning and end of the day, including disinfecting surfaces, putting away and organizing materials, cleaning room, and sanitizing toys regularly.
- Provide assistance to substitute teachers.
- Safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of confidential student information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- NOTE:
Positions in this classification may work with STARS, Brilliant Beginnings, and Kinder Prep programs.
- High school diploma.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills; flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
- Awareness of surroundings and activities in the classroom.
- Capable of working with children one‑on‑one and in groups; able to work independently and follow schedule.
- Ability to relate to students, parents and teachers in a positive manner.
- Valid DPS issued IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, First Aid and CPR certification required.
- Ability to pass background and reference checks as required by district standards.

- Frequent communication with parents, students, and staff.
- Frequent interaction with students requiring bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor and rising again.
- Remaining on one’s feet in an upright position while supervising students.
- Lifting or lowering an object ranging from 25-50 lbs.
- Moving about on foot.
- Ascending and descending a small ladder with agility.
- Required visual acuity to perform activities with students.
This is a 10‑month position, Monday‑Friday.
Salary ClassificationAppropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated by the Site Administrator according to district policy.
Paid Holidays14 total paid holidays.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment is usually moderate noise level. The district participates in the Arizona State Retirement System; a defined benefit plan provides lifelong monthly retirement income for qualified members.
