Assistant Pastor – Student Ministries Lead

Full-Time | Student Ministry | Pastoral Staff

Position Summary

Calvary East Valley is prayerfully seeking a full-time Student Ministries Lead to provide leadership, vision, and oversight for Junior High and High School students while serving as an Assistant Pastor. This role includes reaching and discipling students, equipping volunteers and parents, supporting church leadership, and advancing the vision and mission of Calvary East Valley.

Additional pastoral responsibilities include preaching and teaching, visitation, counseling, officiating weddings and funerals, administrative support, and assisting with special projects as needed. This role partners closely with church leadership to shepherd the congregation and participate in the work God is doing throughout the church body.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrates biblical character consistent with 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • Possesses a genuine heart to shepherd people through the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Supports and champions the vision, doctrine, philosophy of ministry, and leadership of Calvary East Valley
  • Teachable and willing to receive direction from church leadership
  • Demonstrates gifting in shepherding, leadership, teaching, and administration
  • Ministry experience and/or seminary training preferred
Primary Responsibilities
Student Ministries Leadership

Provide overall leadership and oversight of Junior High and High School ministries, built around four core principles:

Connect
  • Create opportunities for students to build relationships, invite friends, hear the gospel, and experience Christian community
  • Oversee youth events, camps, retreats, and Sunday morning programming
Grow
  • Lead and develop midweek discipleship gatherings focused on worship, biblical teaching, fellowship, and small groups
  • Cultivate spiritual growth and biblical maturity among students
Serve
  • Recruit, train, and mentor students, equipping them to serve and lead as part of a Servant Leadership Team
  • Develop a servant‑leadership culture that prepares students for lifelong ministry involvement
Reach
  • Equip students to share the gospel and engage in personal evangelism
  • Develop outreach opportunities, campus ministries, mission trips, and local evangelistic efforts
Volunteer & Parent Engagement
  • Recruit, train, encourage, and support student ministry volunteers
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and provide regular communication regarding ministry opportunities and events
  • Help students successfully transition from middle school to high school, and from high school into young adult ministry
Pastoral Ministry
  • Assist the Senior Pastor in carrying out the vision and ministry of the church
  • Provide teaching, preaching, pastoral care, counseling, visitation, weddings, funerals, lead short‑term mission trips, and other pastoral duties as needed
  • Participate in church leadership meetings, prayer gatherings, and ministry events
Church‑Wide Ministry Support
  • Encourage and support ministry leaders across the church
  • Assist with communications, newcomer assimilation, outreach initiatives, missions, and leadership development as needed
  • Help identify opportunities to strengthen ministry effectiveness and raise up future leaders
Weekly Expectations
  • Participate in Sunday worship services and church prayer gatherings
  • Lead weekly evening youth ministry
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Senior Pastor
  • Engage in pastoral care, volunteer development, and ministry oversight throughout the week
  • Maintain a visible, relational presence within the life of the church
