Position: Teacher - Student Success Advisor - No Experience Required

Teacher - Student Success Advisor

The purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive academic support through monitoring student performance, facilitating communication between stakeholders, implementing targeted interventions, and organizing programs to ensure student success and engagement.

Essential Functions:

  • Communication & Support Online Students:
    Onboarding and registration of all online students. Communicate between teachers, students, parents, and counselors for full time and part time online students. Contact parents of students who are struggling or unengaged (especially Tier 2 and Tier 3 students). Facilitate communication about strategies with online teachers. Send reminders and newsletters to parents, students, and teachers. Monitor student academic progress. Monitor attendance weekly reports and set up meetings for audit letters.

    Identify and refer students to Canyon Valley.
  • Monitor Academics:
    Track grades and meet with academically struggling students. Monitor attendance and conduct audits (focus on 14-day absences). Monitor Tier 2 and Tier 3 student groups with regular check-ins and meetings. Help students build academic success systems (time management, study skills, organization, etc.). Intervention System:
    Follow the Tier System of Intervention. Use academic intervention forms via the HUB. Focus on skill acquisition and peer tutoring as interventions. Address underlying issues like academic apathy and social-emotional factors. Setup peer tutoring schedule (work with NHS, Key Club, etc.). Create and update a Tier 3 list (students who failed last year's courses or incoming Freshmen). Schedule regular student meetings, tutoring sessions, and Tier 3 meetings.

    Coordinate with teachers and make phone calls to support online teachers.

Other Functions:
Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

    - Level A Basic level of learned physical skill is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Physical Effort
    - Level 1 Minimal physical exertion is required. Most job time is spent sitting with occasional walking. Occasional lifting, guiding, and carrying of lightweight materials or equipment.
  • Social Requirements:
    Human Relations Skill
    - Level B Job requires patience in communication and well-developed verbal skills to exchange technical or complex information with individuals or small, informal groups. skills in establishing harmonious relationships and gaining cooperation are important. Scope of Contacts
    - Level 1 The important job contacts are with peers in the immediate work group and immediate supervisor. Occasional contact with individuals outside the organization may occur.
