Job Description
TITLE:
Paraprofessional (Reading Interventionist)
EMPLOYMENT
TERMS:
Ten (10) months Classified Non-Exempt
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Classified Salary Schedule
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide instructional support to certified teacher to enhance the learning environment of at-risk, physically/mentally challenged or other special needs students through individualized focus on learning skills.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANCE
- Assists in preparation of instructional materials and physical environment
- Assists in planning and preparation for group and individual activities
- Assists with student records/attendance requirements
- Assists substitute teacher to ensure continuity of learning process
- Assists with parent activities
6.Performs other related tasks as assigned
STUDENT INTERACTION
- Supervises students as assigned, during non-instructional activities
- Provides individual and group instructional support to reinforce skills
- Provides enrichment and remedial assistance as required
- Assists with testing to determine student placement as required
- Participates in activities that will develop positive interaction in the instructional process
- Performs other related tasks as assigned
CERTIFICATION: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, CPR, First Aide with in 6 months
SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to communicate and work well with all children, oral and written communication skills, office equipment usage, and computer applications such as spreadsheet applications.KNOWLEDGE
REQUIRED:
Ability to communicate and work well with all children, latest practices of instructional delivery, and knowledge of the Navajo Language is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma with Para Educator's Assessment, minimum 60 hours of college credits or AA degree preferred.
Experience:Preferred.
Supervision: Must use own initiative and judgment.
License:Drivers License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical movement of some equipment, possible handling of handicapped children, ability to bend, stands and walks extensively.COMMITMENT AND DEPENDABIITY
