DescriptionAt Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon.
We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.
Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking an Electronic Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) Engineer - Level 3/4 to join our team in Gilbert, AZ. In this role, you will join a team of 2-4 EGSE Engineers interfacing with the spacecraft subsystem engineers, to obtain design requirements. Early on, there will be design work that requires documentation development in not only electrical design, but also some mechanical design, then support to an EDL (Engineering Development Lab) when the hardware is being built and assembled by the technicians.
The next phase will be spent on integration and troubleshooting any problems on the product you helped to design and build to test the UUT. You will be responsible for designing test equipment (test racks, fixtures, selecting or designing digital/analog/serial and various signal interface cards, cables, etc.) to test and validate the operation of satellite components. You will work closely with hardware and software engineers, to understand component requirements and their designs, to create test set solutions that effectively and efficiently test them in both ambient and space conditions, such as thermal vacuum.
Role And Impact
- Working with the Cognizant Engineer and Test Engineer of the flight Hardware to obtain the Hardware Unit Under Test (UUT) Specification Requirements.
- Developing requirements for testing of space vehicle components or UUT.
- Working closely with the spacecraft UUT Design Engineer to ensure the component test equipment (CTE)/ automated test equipment (ATE) system will validate the circuit cards and/or electronics box under all test environments.
- Working with the Test Engineer to develop the test plan for the UUT hardware environmental requirements.
- Generating review material and supporting design reviews for the test equipment in development.
- Hardware design of component test equipment (CTE) and automated test equipment (ATE) to test space vehicle components.
- Ensuring that the technical requirements, cost, and schedule for the CTE/ATE system development is achieved.
- End-to-end design, debug, test, and certification of CTE/ATE systems.
- Documentation, development, and release of the CTE/ATE systems.
- Generating Certification Test Procedures.
- Supporting the test and debug for flight and non‑flight spacecraft electronic circuit card assemblies (CCA) and boxes.
