Position Overview
Cyber Systems Engineer – Level 2 – GIlbert, AZ 100% onsite; 9/80 with every other Friday off.
Travel:

Role:
This position is a cyber systems engineering role supporting national security space missions. The engineer will secure complex systems across ground, communications, and space segments and contribute to secure design of satellite systems and ground command & control.
- Work as part of an integrated product team to architect, implement, and satisfy RMF cybersecurity, cyber resilience, and/or cyber survivability requirements of satellite systems, communications links, and ground command & control systems.
- Manage system security engineering requirements in support of program protection, decompose system-level security controls into technical performance requirements across disciplines and components.
- Perform attack surface analysis and prepare system security plan documentation, including risk assessment reports, security control traceability matrices, assurance procedures, and POA&M.
- Implement and maintain COTS security products, such as firewalls, anti‑virus, two‑factor authentication, SIEM tools, within terrestrial systems.
- Support design and implementation of space vehicle hardening processes, involving embedded processors, flight software, real‑time operating systems, secure coding practices.
- Prepare and execute assessment procedures to verify conformance with federal, DoD, intelligence, or special access program security controls.
- Assist in Agile environments, addressing static code analysis findings and prioritising within the software development life‑cycle backlog.
- Work in small teams to complete systems engineering, assembly, integration, and test activities for security‑critical components such as cross‑domain solutions, cryptographic devices, and controlled interfaces.
- Deploy mission‑unique software in computing clouds or virtualised environments, prepare certification to field assessment procedures, and execute test cases.
- Interface with customer representatives for cyber testing and evaluation to meet critical program milestones.
- Perform vulnerability scanning, remediation and patch management for Windows and Red Hat operating systems, and for COTS/GOTS applications in virtualised or cloud environments.
- Document or update standard operating procedures, perform software patch installations, antivirus updates, and continuous monitoring activities.
- Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of per security policies and procedures within the system security authorization package.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 2 years of cyber systems experience, or Master’s degree in a STEM field with 0 years of cyber systems experience.
- Active Top‑Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance required, US citizenship required.
- Experience designing systems/networks or hands‑on experience with industry platform hardening practices such as DISA STIG implementation and documentation of deviations.
- Experience in scanning, remediating, mitigating, and reporting cybersecurity vulnerabilities using audit tools such as DISA ACAS or Tenable Nessus.
- Experience implementing the RMF process from system categorisation through continuous monitoring.
- Current CISSP‑ISSEP or CISSP‑ISSAP certification.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- At least three years of IA/cybersecurity experience within the SAP community of the defense aerospace industry.
- Experience hardening Docker containers.
