We are seeking an electrical engineer (EE) to be a product engineer in our Integrated Avionics Units (IAU) value stream. The role includes supporting electronic design/development, component procurement, manufacturing, unit/environmental testing, and product requirement verification. The successful candidate will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, FPGA, and software designers and other system engineers to produce design documentation and coordinate the manufacture and test of high-speed digital and power distribution circuit card assemblies and subsystems.
The HW Product Engineer directly supports the project lead engineer and program manager to ensure product development activities follow Moog’s phase-gate development process and that all product requirements are met, verified and thoroughly documented.
- Take directions from the lead project engineer and support the project design and development team to document, produce, and test custom space electronics.
- Verify and document product requirements through inspections, analysis, or test.
- After production hardware test completion, author/compile product verification reports to demonstrate specification compliance.
- Author and/or review engineering analyses and reports; ensure project data deliverables meet customer specs and are delivered on time.
- Author and/or execute test procedures (unit, subsystem and product level hardware).
- Use laboratory measurement equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot electronic failures down to the discrete component/integrated circuit level.
- Resolve non-conformance issues encountered during manufacturing and testing activities including leading Failure Review Board (FRB) meetings and championing Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts.
- Apply corrective actions to product designs by formulating solutions, selecting alternative components, and authoring engineering change orders.
- Maintain and update complex structured bill of material (BOM).
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with demonstrated ability to read and understand printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) schematics, PCB layout drawings, and product/box assembly drawings.
- Understanding of computer architecture and digital interface technologies.
- Self-starting instincts and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with a strong technical foundation while proactively identifying and resolving technical challenges.
- Practical, demonstratable ability to utilize electronic laboratory equipment for signal measurements, component performance verification, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Good written/verbal communication skills and time management skills.
- Ability to work onsite and be the technical POC during product testing campaigns.
- 2+ years of experience in electronic systems design (e.g., PCBA design, schematic/layout, embedded microprocessor, FPGA, or ASIC) or electronic product engineering (e.g., circuit board manufacturing and test).
- Experience verifying test and analysis requirements for complex electronics systems.
- Experience working in cross-functional project teams that perform product design and development including prototyping and manufacturing phases.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to break down complex tasks and bring innovative solutions.
- Experience designing or specifying space-based, radiation-hardened electronic components is highly desired.
