We are seeking full‑time, experienced Fire Plans Examiners and Fire Inspector I and II for our clients in Arizona.

Career Ladder Overview

Fire Inspector I

Entry–Intermediate Level | Development Focused

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fire and life safety inspections of a variety of commercial occupancies.

  • Document inspection findings and corrective actions.

  • Learn application of IFC, NFPA, and local amendments.

  • Assist with fire protection system inspections as needed.

Qualifications

  • ICC Fire Inspector I Certification

  • 1–3 years of fire inspection or related experience preferred

Compensation

$37.50 - $42.00/ hour (DOE)

Fire Inspector II / Fire Plans Examiner

Advanced Level | Independent & Client‑Facing

Fire Inspector II professionals operate with a high level of independence and technical authority. This role is ideal for experienced municipal inspectors or consultants ready to work on complex occupancies and act as a trusted advisor to clients and design teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced fire and life safety inspections for existing occupancies and new construction.

  • Inspect and witness acceptance testing for fire alarm, sprinkler, and special hazard systems.

  • Review construction documents for fire code compliance.

  • Interpret and apply IFC, NFPA, and performance‑based solutions.

  • Coordinate directly with clients, AHJs, contractors, and design professionals.

  • Mentor Fire Inspector I staff.

Qualifications

  • ICC Fire Inspector Plans Examiner Certification

  • ICC Fire Inspector I and II Certification

  • 5+ years of progressive inspection experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of fire protection systems.

  • Plan review: complex occupancy experience preferred (higher placement criteria)

  • ICC Fire Marshal Certification (preferred)

Compensation

$42.00 - $55/ hour (DOE - Advanced placement considered for highly experienced candidates)

General Overview

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, performing plan checks and enforcing codes and regulations in a broad range of fire and related codes. The work requires independence and discretion in both field inspections and plan checks.

  • Review plans, calculations and specifications for compliance with the most current adopted codes and ordinances.

  • Preparation of Plans Comments Letter according to industry and SCA standards.

  • Meet and confer with the clients as‑needed to clarify plan check comments.

  • Travel to jurisdictions on an as‑needed basis to support clients.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to detect hazards and violations, and recommend corrective measures during field inspection work; ability to enforce regulations with firmness, consistency, tact and courtesy in field inspection work; ability to communicate effectively verbally…
