Phoenix, AZ Position Summary
The Critical Systems Technician IV will serve as a technician for all CPG mission‑critical electrical services and maintenance under contract. The position will be responsible for monitoring compliance with contractual commitments. This role provides leadership and expertise regarding the installation, service, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of mission‑critical data center electrical equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Review technical specifications with the sales team and project managers to identify the field operations scope of the project as defined in CPG bid packages.
- Interface with services team to ensure proper specification compliance.
- Provide job‑specific technical support.
- Interface with the factory to resolve any site‑related technical issues.
- QA/QC of power distribution equipment.
- Create critical power system MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs.
- Perform preventive maintenance services on contracted gear and other components.
- Install and service all power distribution equipment.
- Capable of troubleshooting distribution and transmission controls.
- Perform function testing of low, medium, and high voltage switch gear, relay panels, transformers, ATS, and circuit breakers.
- Examine relay settings and logic equations for confirmation of system operation in accordance with design.
- Provide regular status reports to the responsible CPG project manager and director of service operations.
- Direct feedback to the responsible CPG project manager for problem resolution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in the field.
- Provide required site testing reports and inspection sheets per project specification.
- Participate in specialized commissioning/testing of systems.
- Conduct site visits during regional travels at management direction.
- Respond to service calls as required.
- Other duties as assigned by services management.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to travel approximately 30 percent of time (may include periods of higher travel).
- Travel for the first two weeks of the job for onboarding training and safety education (company pays travel).

Education / Experience- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electronics, electrical theory, or a similar discipline; highly desirable or equivalent work experience.
- Two to five years of mission‑critical electrical systems experience (required).
- Three to five years of field repair or customer service experience with UPS, electrical, electro‑mechanical, or electronics‑related equipment, or three to five years of mission‑critical specific product experience required.
- Experience with electrical power distribution equipment, including UPS, switch gear, batteries, monitoring equipment, generators, etc.
- Understanding and knowledge of NETA standards, IEEE specifications, and NEMA specifications as they pertain to low and medium voltage switch gear.
- Good technical understanding and application of all types of switch gear, protective relaying, and controls of switch gear, including operation, maintenance, and testing.
- Firsthand experience on low and medium voltage switch gear, including disassembly, component inspection or repair, reassembly, and testing.
- NETA or NICET Level 1 to 4 electrical power testing certifications are preferred.
- Ability to read and understand one‑line diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Technical writing skills, including use of Word, Excel, and MS Project.
- Familiarity with specialized testing equipment and reporting software.
- Must hold a current NETA/NICET Level II or above.
- NFPA 70E Low Voltage and High Voltage.
- No supervisory responsibilities.
- May require moving objects 10 to 50 pounds; frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision required for this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
