Team Gilbert – Payroll Specialist – Limited Term Agreement
The position is funded through June 30, 2027 and may be eligible for renewal based on need and performance.
ReportingReports to the Accounting Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Reviews and inputs Federal and State tax and employee direct deposit information and changes.
- Responds to payroll‑related requests for information from internal departments, employees, and outside agencies.
- Audits bi‑weekly timecards, makes necessary corrections, and prepares queries to review for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to Personnel Policies.
- Processes timecard imports in the payroll software to generate checks, direct deposits, and reports.
- Analyzes various reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll; makes manual adjustments as needed.
- Associate's degree in Payroll, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Five years of experience processing full‑cycle payroll (municipal experience preferred), working with automated timecard software, tax filing, auditing and reconciling Federal and State taxes, daily payroll operations, and providing internal and external customer service.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Daily payroll operations for a large entity, preferably in the public sector.
- Complete understanding of the full‑cycle payroll process.
- Proficiency with pension systems and associated reporting.
- Knowledge of Federal and State tax laws.
- Ability to complete work under tight.
