Job Summary
Delivers exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects as a Retail Banking – Sales & Service Specialist. Identifies customer needs and provides financial solutions that best serve their interests, delivering a personalized experience through branches and digital channels.
Key Responsibilities- Proactively engage existing customers and prospects to conduct needs‑based assessments and recommend solutions across everyday banking, retail investments, lending, home financing, and small business options.
- Provide tailored advice and guidance on digital and self‑serve banking to simplify transactions.
- Support customers’ transaction needs and grow BMO’s business through appointments, relationship building, and community outreach.
- Handle consumer credit audits and quality checks, ensuring accurate data entry and compliant lending recommendations.
- Apply the Risk Management Framework to protect the bank’s assets and maintain portfolio quality, following lending policies and regulatory requirements.
- Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, including home financing, in line with sound credit principles and banks’ policies.
- Integrate marketing promotions into conversations to provide strategic advice and maximize sales opportunities.
- Keep current with the financial services marketplace, legal and regulatory environment, and maintain ethical standards.
- Identify and report suspicious activity related to money laundering.
- Collaborate across branches and channels, adapting to varying schedules and shifts.
- Complete complex tasks, analyze issues, and determine next steps; take measured risks within the approved risk appetite.
- Typically 2–3 years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
- Knowledge of personal and small‑business customer needs and solutions, and retail investments and lending products.
- Experience in a consultative customer service or sales role with a focus on delivering a personal experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑starter, resourceful, and comfortable using social media, tablets, smartphones, and other digital tools.
- Canada‑only:
Registration to sell investment products completed – as appropriate for the jurisdiction; appropriate lending qualifications and designations. - U.S.‑only:
Position requires Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry under Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act; criminal background review and credit evaluation.
Salary range: $41,714 – $65,000 per year (Salaried). Compensation may include commissions, performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks.
