This is a great opportunity for someone with SOX (Financials Controls) experience who is ready to expand into the government contracting space.

You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong internal control environment, supporting audit readiness, and ensuring compliance with both financial and government regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

SOX & Internal Controls
  • Lead SOX compliance activities, including risk assessment, control design, testing, and remediation.
  • Partner with business teams to document and maintain process controls, narratives, and flowcharts.
  • Perform regular control monitoring and recommend improvements.
  • Act as liaison with internal/external auditors and coordinate SOX audit requests.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
  • Design and maintain an effective internal control framework.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives.
Training & Communication
  • Educate teams on SOX requirements and internal control best practices.
  • Communicate regulatory changes and compliance updates across the organization.
Government Compliance (FAR/DFARS)
  • Support compliance with defense contract regulations by maintaining key documentation (e.g., Disclosure Statements, FPRs, Incurred Cost Proposals).
  • Perform variance analysis and research discrepancies.
  • Act as liaison between auditors/analysts in support of audits and other customer reviews.
  • Help build and implement policies to align with FAR/DFARS.
  • Work cross-functionally with legal and contracts teams to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
Reporting
  • Maintain compliance documentation and prepare reports for leadership and audit committees.
Team Leadership
  • Train and support a cross-functional compliance team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CIA preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in SOX compliance, auditing, or internal controls; exposure to government contracting a plus.
  • Knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
