The Town of Pinetop-Lakeside is seeking a motivated and community-oriented individual to join our Police Department as an Animal Control / Police Services Officer. This non-sworn position plays a vital role in protecting public safety, promoting responsible animal ownership, and supporting law enforcement operations.
Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Police Commander, this position is responsible for enforcing animal control ordinances, responding to animal-related calls for service, and assisting the Police Department with a variety of non-enforcement duties. The role requires a balance of fieldwork, public interaction, and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol town areas to identify and address animal control violations
- Respond to calls involving stray, injured, or dangerous animals
- Capture, impound, and transport animals using humane methods
- Investigate animal bites, nuisance complaints, and ordinance violations
- Educate the public on animal safety, care, and local regulations
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and citations
- Assist Police Department personnel with non-enforcement duties such as traffic control and scene support
- Serve as a liaison between the community and the Police Department on animal-related concerns
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of two years experience working with government regulations in animal control, law enforcement support, code enforcement, veterinary assistance or a related field is preferred
- Experience working with animals is preferred
- Ability to pass criminal background investigation
- Must possess a State of Arizona Driver’s License.
